From National Security to Natural Security

Secure Forests is a veteran-led organisation delivering practical training, applied conservation and forward-looking environmental capability.

We support former military and emergency services personnel as they transition into purposeful civilian pathways, while delivering real-world conservation, land management and environmental projects in live settings.

Alongside this, we provide practical training opportunities for individuals and organisations seeking to develop land-based skills in applied environments.

Who we are

Secure Forests is a veteran-led not-for-profit organisation working at the intersection of training, conservation and environmental capability.

We help people build practical skills, confidence and direction through meaningful work in live landscapes. Our approach is disciplined, field-based and outcomes-focused — rooted in service, shaped by experience, and designed for long-term impact.

What We Do

Training & Transition

We support military and emergency service veterans, including those transitioning from the military or emergency services, through structured training pathways that develop practical land-based skills, confidence and employability.

We also provide paid training opportunities for individuals and organisations seeking high-quality, practical land management experience.

Why it matters

Too many capable people leave the military or emergency services without a clear next step, despite bringing discipline, resilience and operational experience that are highly valuable in civilian life.

At the same time, landscapes, estates and environmental projects need skilled people who can work safely, practically and with purpose.

Secure Forests exists to help connect those two realities — supporting people into new pathways while also contributing to the development of a skilled workforce for the land-based and environmental sectors.

The Secure Forests Approach

Our work is built around a simple principle: practical delivery creates practical outcomes.

  • Training in live settings rather than abstract classrooms
  • Developing confidence through responsibility and applied work
  • Building capability that benefits individuals, partners and the environment
  • Offering both funded and paid pathways to ensure accessibility and sustainability
  • Combining grounded delivery with a clear view of future opportunity

Credibility

  • Veteran-led delivery
  • Accredited and practical training pathways
  • Real-world conservation and land management activity
  • Partnerships across public, academic and applied environments
  • Commitment to long-term environmental and human outcomes

Land Management & Wildlife Conservation Course

Our Land Management & Wildlife Conservation pathway provides a practical route for former military and emergency services personnel to develop skills, gain experience and move towards further training, employment or wider opportunity.

We are also developing a broader training offer to support individuals and organisations seeking structured, practical land-based training.

Working with Secure Forests

We work with partners who value disciplined delivery, practical conservation, skills development and environmental innovation.

Whether you are a landowner, estate, university, public body, funder or potential collaborator, we are building a model designed to create long-term value.

The Path Forward

Secure Forests is not simply a training provider or a conservation project. It is a practical platform for transition, capability and environmental action.

We are building something disciplined, credible and future-facing — rooted in service and focused on what comes next.
