How we work

Our Approach

Secure Forests combines practical skills, conservation and environmental technology to develop people, protect landscapes and improve environmental decision-making. Our work brings together training, field-based delivery, environmental monitoring and real-world conservation, supporting veterans, emergency service personnel, young people and others seeking meaningful pathways into the environmental and land-based sectors.

Satellite Monitoring

We use satellite and Earth Observation data to understand changes across landscapes over time. This provides large-scale, repeatable environmental information that can support conservation, land management and the development of Forest Signal.

Terrestrial Sensors

Field-based sensors provide continuous information from the environments we monitor. Combined with satellite, drone and field observations, they help build a more detailed and timely understanding of environmental conditions and change.

Environmental Skills & Ranger Training

We provide practical, field-based training for veterans, emergency service personnel and young people. Our programmes build skills for conservation, land management and environmental monitoring, combining recognised qualifications with real-world experience and pathways into employment.

Wildlife Protection & Monitoring

We support the protection of wildlife through practical conservation, environmental monitoring and improved situational awareness. Technology and field observation can help identify changes, pressures and potential threats earlier.

Conservation & Land Management

Our teams and learners contribute directly to practical conservation and land-management activity, including habitat improvement, woodland management and environmental restoration. This delivers measurable benefits while developing practical skills and experience.

Sustainable Communities & Livelihoods

Our work recognises that successful conservation depends on people as well as landscapes. We support skills, employment and sustainable opportunities that enable individuals and communities to benefit from protecting and managing the natural environment.
