We are delighted to announce that Secure Forests CIC has received £20,000 in funding from The National Lottery Community Fund to support the development of our new website and create new online learning resources for our seven-week Land Management & Wildlife Conservation Programme.
We are extremely grateful for this support. The funding will allow us to strengthen the way we support learners before, during and after the programme, making our training more accessible, consistent and effective.
A key part of the project will be developing online pre-course learning materials. Many of the practical qualifications delivered during the programme are intensive and take place over a relatively short period. For example, chainsaw training may only involve two days of formal instruction before assessment.
By giving learners access to relevant information, guidance and learning resources in advance, they will have more opportunity to familiarise themselves with key concepts, terminology and processes before attending the practical training. They will also be able to revisit the material in their own time, providing additional support and helping to increase confidence and preparedness for assessment.
The funding will also help us improve the resources used during the programme itself. Course materials, supporting information and assessment processes will be brought together in a clearer and more accessible online format, helping both learners and instructors and creating a smoother experience throughout the seven weeks.
Importantly, the support will continue beyond the end of the programme.
We will be able to provide former learners with access to additional resources, updated guidance and relevant changes to industry practice or policy. We can also keep people connected with new training opportunities, employment pathways, volunteering, events and developments within Secure Forests.
For us, this is about much more than building a new website. It is about developing a stronger learning platform around an already successful programme and giving people additional tools to succeed.
Our Land Management & Wildlife Conservation Programme has always combined practical training, personal support, volunteering and real-world experience. This funding gives us the opportunity to strengthen that model further by adding a digital learning environment that supports people throughout their entire Secure Forests journey.
